"Deuces Wild" [Ridgeville Series, Book 5] by Celia Kyle

My Book Summary : A while back Deuce was recruited by the council to be a spy for them and infiltrate Freedom's group in hopes to take them down. By now, he has almost everything the council needs to finally put an end to the group’s plans and take down its leader, Alistair. However, he's plans get cut short when during a card game Alistair ups the mind games by telling him he needs to rape a woman, a squirrel shifter named Eloise (Elly), they have been keeping hostage. Therefore, once alone, and after Deuce realizes that this woman is his mate, Deuce convince Elly that he's going to help her get out of Freedom. And he does!

The only problem is that now after getting Elly into the council's capable hands no one seems to believe that Deuce never hurt Elly and that they are mates! Will they be able to beat the odds and protect each other from their families, "friends," and everyone else who seems to want to keep them apart?

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!!! Mates find each other during a hostage situation, making the world feel like they need to keep them apart for good. I loved this fast-paced plot and its feisty characters!! Deuce and Elly were an odd pairing shifter-wise but perfect matches for everything else. Also, I like how Elly believed in Deuce no matter what and that she was an excellent shot with a gun. =0)

I recommend this lively novel to anyone who likes paranormal erotica romances!!

- On a side note -
This novel reminded me a bit of Ms. Langlais' "Bunny And The Bear."

Book Teaser(s) :
He doubted his little mate could handle an incensed lion.
His mate. His lush, curvaceous mate.
Deuce took one last deep breath. He knew he’d have to climb from her, force himself to retreat and show her she could trust him, at least a little. That final inhale brought even more to his senses, more of her alluring fragrance along with hints of her inner animal. Her... “Squirrel? You’re a squirrel?”
She narrowed her eyes but nodded.
Great.
A lion mated to a squirrel. And he’d teased one of the other guards back in Ridgeville about claiming a bunny. ~ within Chapter 1
“Too bad there’s not a lost and found for people.” — Maya O’Connell, Prima of the Ridgeville Pride, who was missing one of the twins. If only she could tell them apart and knew who’d wandered off. Kidlet tattoos were in their future. ~ within Chapter 2
Elly felt the tension in Deuce’s body, his muscles strung as tight as a bow, and she ran her hand along his spine. She stroked him gently, silently urging him to calm as they waited for Rosie to complete their paperwork and hand over the key.
Thankfully, they didn’t have to wait long. It looked like the woman wanted the two of them out of the lobby as soon as possible.
She had no problem with that since if people didn’t start treating her mate better, Elly was going to go badass squirrel on them and gnaw at their Achilles tendons. Then, once she got them down, she’d go to town on their asshole-ish asses.
Nom, nom, nom...
As if able to read her thoughts, Deuce squeezed her hand to snare her attention. “Bloodthirsty thing, aren’t you?” ~ within Chapter 4
